	Protected by a provincial law that prevents motor navigation, Garda is particularly suitable for swimming. Numerous records have been set in the blue waters of the lake, one of the most recent being the cross-lake swim record set in the summer of 2001 by the Trentino Christian Sartori. There are also numerous swimming facilities, such as the Riva indoor town swimming pool "E. Meroni", a 25-metre pool with six lanes. The Associazione Amici Nuoto Riva has the Italian 50-metre backstroke champion Maria Luisa Tavernini also among its ranks.
