COLLECTIONS

Picture gallery
Frescoes, sculptures, drawings, prints and photographs witness to a lively and bright cultural climate, supported by the presence of important exponents of the national and international artistic scene such as Martino Teofilo Polacco, the Monogrammist F. V., Pietro Ricchi, Franscesco Hayez, Vincenzo Vela, Giuseppe Craffonara, Silvio Zaniboni.

Upper Garda Archaeology
The archaeological section was recently organised on the basis of innovative and enthralling criteria. The chronological and thematic exhibition route winds proceeds in a fascinating context and shows the first settlements in the Basso Sarca and Valle di Ledro areas, the appearance of the first farmers in the Neolithic Age, metallurgical production in the Copper Age, settlements during the Bronze Age, the local conditions during in the Iron Age and developments in Roman times up to the reorganisation performed in the Middle Ages. Each one of these thematic areas is highlighted by a precious guiding element, such as the stele statues of the Copper Age discovered in Arco between 1989 and 1999 or the loyal faithful reproduction of the Busa Brodeghera.

The land between history and environment
Thanks to in-depth studies supported by precise photographic documentation, it is possible to relate the events that set the pace of local life, in which tourism played a primary role. In fact, from the mid 19th century onwards takes shape the dynamic entrepreneurship that will contribute, in the golden age of Mitteleuropean tourism, in making Riva del Garda an international resort for leisure and society life.
